This hits hard...
I woke up early today (without an alarm) because I had to bring my dog to a chiropractor at noon.
So I had a cup of coffee and a pipe, watching the morning dew dry up
It's one of 3 days off this week, and that's only because I sacrificed one additional day off to fake an extra shift on Friday. It pays double though, because of union regulations, even though I'd have taken it for regular pay anyway.
The only difference is, that I don't have friends to meet up with, mostly because I don't want to, and that I'm not in a drinking mode yet, but sounds like I could pick that up at some point

Same, except that I think I'll make a cake for said friends to eat after drinks. Saturdays are the best.

My day so far in Germany: wake up without alarm at 3:30, have coffee and smoke a joint with my husband (it’s his day off), eat cold vegetable Maultaschen (my beloved) for breakfast, walk to my job at the bakery for my 5:00 shift, run around sweating all day until my shift ends at 13:00, walk home, decompress, and eat the rest of the Maultaschen.
In an hour or two, my husband and I will go sit on the riverbank a couple blocks away, smoke a few joints, and he'll play the banjo (very uncommon here) while I read until we want to have dinner. Then we’ll make open faced sandwiches for dinner (very common here), and try to get to bed by 20-21.

Does maultaschen mean mouth pockets?
Yes, literally translated it does. Maul is a bit on the vulgar side these days, you'd say Mund instead.
For animals often Maul is still used. And if you tell someone to shut up you tell them Halt's Maul (hold your mouth) -
3 and 4 are reversed
Or could be merged

Some unemployed people I know actually do this. And I don't just mean students

Does maultaschen mean mouth pockets?
Allegedly they were invented by some catholic monks who had some juicy meat on hand which they weren't allowed to eat on that day (friday I think) so they hid the meat from gods eyes by wrapping it in dough. Foolproof plan me thinks
